Gang:
As we now approach the 10 day until arrival time for Group One, Der Flow
chart becomes more and more relevant. Notice that there is a push upwards
in the flow (we are up from 1500 cfs to 2400 cfs) but the rivers remain
very, very fishable throughout this year's runoff (in fact, (y)our Double Up
Outfitter is on the river today and having lunch with your Hostess With The
Mostess tomorrow).
Also, it is now relevant to begin looking at the long range weather forecast
for E-12, with the very important caveat that predicting weather in Montana
is a guessing game, not a science. That being said, the long range forecast
for Group One calls for high temps in the low to mid 70's with rain and/or
partly cloudy skies (more likely both!) during your stay with us.
So, go to Der Camp List and make sure that included within you packing is a
full rain suit (top and bottoms) as you will be needing it during your stay
with us. Rain will not interfere with your fishing (and, in fact, often
improves the day); the rain suit and layered clothing will just provide your
comfort...Hypothermia is not a Greek city, all.
The longer range forecast for Group Two (which is really problematic and
Ouija board material at best at this point in time) calls for more rain and
partly cloudy skies and temps likewise in the mid 70's.
As veteran fisherfolk in the greater Missoula area will confirm, for great
fishing, what we want is overcast days (not bright sunny "bluebird" days),
and, in addition to great river flows, that looks like what we are in for!!
I will be on the scene for the duration in just 48 short hours now and will
give you further first hand updates.
Summary: We are in for one great fishing year, all!!!
Viva la Extravaganza!!
