Say hello to Extravaganza rookies Jamie “Chico” Herold and Mark “How Long Am I a Rookie?” Handron who, on Saturday said hello to their very first Extravaganza—our tenth!!
Fair weather met this well more than fair band of fathers, sons, son in laws and daughters to bless the opening of E-12. Lunch at the Montana Club was highlighted by the appearance of presidential candidate Newt Gingrich at our table followed by traditional trips to the Blackfoot House, the Merc and then on to Headquarters for an afternoon of moving into quarters, fine tuning casts on the back and front lawns and then trying their best to put the most significant one day dent into our garage’s wine larder—which, in keeping with Group One tradition, was accomplished with blurry-eyed élan.
The morning fishing Day One greeted the Ones with a beautiful calm rain and the sighting of a moose—our first sighting in several years- in the backyard of the Bunk House just a half mile upstream from the epicenter of it all.
More on Day One in a bit—for now, just shout out a big hello to Jamie and Mark, the former telling the crew at dinner last evening that he was “overwhelmed with the events” and “being on the river [and being away from the rest of the Ones?!?] was the most pleasurable thing” and Mark the latter, yes, asking “how long am I a rookie?, hence garnering him is at least temporary Montana moniker.
Best to all From the scene of it all,
RCR----<’///><
