Group Three, Day Three: Fish Fireworks!!

Well, the sun, moon, wind, weather and the stars (finally!) aligned up on the Fourth of July for Group Three’s Day Three, and what a day it was!!  Prior to their early morning launch, the previous eight days of fishing had produced a total of 15 Twenty Inch Club entrants…well, Dem Threes dented that board by posting an E-12 daily record of seven (count ‘em) twenty inchers, the biggest of which were caught by the SS Dodd, with Incumbent Bill and wife “Photobug Mary” (she alone took more pictures that the ENTIRE photo-shy Ones!!) leading the way with Bill’s all-Extravaganza record tying 31” bull trout (featured above) and matched by wife Mary in the same boat on the same day with a pair of 20 and 22 ½ matching beauties.  Bill was heard to comment during the Fourth of July bash hosted by the Threes that “perhaps they should rename the “bull trout” to the “Bill trout” , to which I mused about Bill that the fish was already named after him, he being a wonderful Napa veteran politician!  Congrats “Bull”—yes, that is now your official Extravaganza name Bill, er Bull!—and Photobug  on a display of fish fireworks on the Fourth!!

Not to be left out of the hunt for the yellow hat and yellow shirt (Bull and Photobug were awarded joint yellow hats, btw, along with Bull taking home the Three’s coveted Yellow Shirt—no bull!) were (a) Jim Hendrickson with his 20” Blackfoot brown; (b) Dick “Andros” Seale with his beauty of a 20” Bitterroot bow; (c) beauty Chris “Babe” Richards with her 20 ½ “ Bitterbow; and (c) “Napa Mark” Grassi with his 20 ¾” Clark Fork rainbow, the latter declaring that is solo 19+ fish day on the lower Clark Fork was official declaration that “the Clark Fork is back” following its Milltown Dam restoration!!  Even MechBanker Scott “Crack” McAdams had a bang-up 40+ fish day as did the entire fleet, with the O’Malley’s landing an 18 ½ incher, Stacie King beating out (again!) fiancé Ed Flynn (they get married in less that three weeks from now—yikes!!) with her 16 ¼” take, and the father-son SS O’Dea posting a 16” best along with “The Donald” Buresh and Demetry “The Ghost” Kondrasheff coming home all smiles, the latter completing his sixth (count ‘em) Extravaganza and (out)fishing with yours truly the following day for a 40+ fish Blackfoot day.  MWF President Tim “Four More Years” Aldrich finished well with his sidekick MWF board member “Joe The Jet” Perry as did MWF Development Director Jeff Hagener.

Fireworks, indeed, gang, as the Threes spanked ‘em all on Day Three, the final day of Extravaganza 2012.

Viva la Extravaganza!!
